Dr. Gina Rasinski, L.Ac, MSAOM, DACM, worked in the fields of Acupuncture and Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) for nearly a decade before becoming a Doctor of Acupuncture and Chinese Medicine. In addition to her experience in the field, she brings her passion for helping people become the best versions of themselves throughout their healthcare journey. You can count on her easygoing, compassionate demeanor to provide both a calming and healing energy to your care.
Dr. Gina received her undergraduate degree in Community Health from Northeastern Illinois University, a combined Bachelor of Science in Nutrition and Master of Science degree in Oriental Medicine from Midwest College of Oriental Medicine. She then earned her Doctorate of Acupuncture and Herbal Medicine at Pacific College of Health and Science. She is also certified in Aculift microneedling and the Mei Zen cosmetic acupuncture protocol. Dr. Gina’s many years of professional experience and educational training in Acupuncture and TCM, alongside always having a caring nature, fostered her desire to open Thrive Acupuncture.
Prior to obtaining her degrees in Acupuncture and Nutrition, Gina worked administratively at a busy Chicago Acupuncture and TCM clinic in the Ravenswood Manor neighborhood for 6 years. While studying at Midwest College of Oriental Medicine, she interned at the very busy Stroger’s Hospital in Chicago, treating a diverse group of patients as part of ongoing scientific research at the facility. She additionally held administrative positions at Acupuncture clinics in Park Ridge and Glenview. After substantially helping the relatively new clinic in Glenview organize administratively, Dr. Gina transitioned to her first role as a TCM practitioner. Currently, alongside opening Thrive, she proudly provides acupuncture services to Medicare patients suffering from chronic pain as part of Dr. Sheetal DeCaria, MD's integrative approach to pain medicine treatment at Revitalize Medical Center. Dr. DeCaria, a well-respected pain medicine doctor, owns and operates Revitalize. Dr. DeCaria provides integrative pain management services, offering Acupunture as one of the many tools she uses to help suffering patients.
Dr. Gina is passionate about treating people of all ages, including children. With her Doctoral education and experience at Revitalize, she understands the importance of correlating scientific research with Acupuncture. It helps with patient education as the "language" of treatment in the west requires an understanding of western scientific medical principles. Dr. Gina feels strongly that instead of competing modalities, TCM and western medicine work best in harmony. It does not have to be one or the other, as most TCM treatment methods work perfectly well with whatever your medical doctor has prescribed and most often enhances the quality of your care. As an example, Dr. Gina's time working at the Midwest College of Oriental Medicine clinic allowed her to understand the herbal and nutritional aspects of TCM. She saw conditions labeled “chronic” or “permanent” by conventional medicine respond positively after the addition of TCM targeted the underlying nutritional deficiencies and imbalances.
Ultimately, Dr. Gina loves the healing arts. She firmly believes acupuncture and holistic, integrative healthcare should be accessible to everyone. It is important to her that every patient feels they can count on Dr. Gina to provide a non-judgmental confidant and advocate providing support throughout the healing journey. If she is not treating patients, you can find Dr. Gina spending time with her two rescue pups; volunteering for dog rescue group events; reading fiction/nonfiction while purchasing an ongoing supply of books; experiencing the joy of cooking while listening to music with her husband; and/or exploring the wonders of the world.
